This video provides a 2 hour introduction to threading on the mini lathe.
Jose says: "Finally the mystery of thread cutting has been made simple enough for the first time user! In this two hour video you will see and learn the easy way to cut with taps, dies as well as perform external and internal single point threading operations. Learn the secrets of that "DREADED" threading dial as well as how to avoid using the dial altogether if you chose to. The perfect companion to have along when you are ready to produce extremely true running threads for all your projects!"

Here's another great video by Jose. Now with this vidoe I'd say if you have spent any time on the lathe you probably don't need this video. After watching it I walked away with some new knowledge but most of the things you'd probably come to on your own through time. But if you're new to the metal lathe then I would definately recommend this one as it will help you speed up the process of learning about thread cutting.
Not a sophisticated camera piece, but a few good points.
Content good - Sound track could be improved. If they used an external mic wired to the camera, that would have produced a better and more consisted sound track.
This is good and will also work on all the lathes even if this is shown on the mini lathe. You can't miss the point that is made on this tape, this really good.
Very worthwhile video. Decent quality for a guy doing the lathe work and running the camera! The camera is usually on a tripod but occasionally is handheld for closeups. Relaxed style by the author, very informative and a must for those starting out on the mini lathe. It covers details of thread cutting the average beginner would overlook and offers tips that are real time savers. A definite "must have" for the mini lathe dvd library.
This moves along a little slowly, but information is very good and complete. The narrator seems knowledgeable and is very good at conveying the basics and the tips to the viewer. His enthusiasm for the processes is evident.
Excellent! I cut a usable thread on a hardened steel shaft on my first try.
The "Threading on the Lathe" video is a very good resource for a beginner who needs to see the threading process in action. I'd recommend it for the beginner.
I liked the segment using the thread chasing dial. I would like to see various threads cut on an industrial lathe instead the small hobby lathe featured. It was worth renting. Next up for me is lathe tool sharpening and milling machines.
This DVD was very informative. I’m a beginning (metal working) home shop hobbyist and I really liked the way this DVD stepped through how to thread on the lathe. I’ll be renting more DVD by this author.
Thanks, Walt
A lot of hands on demo but short on how to determined thread pitch and depth. need to also rent How To Cut Screw Threads. All in all a very informative DvD.
I was impressed, this is one of the better videos on threading. He doesn't get caught up in the math aspect of it but shows a real life way of threading. If your lathe has threading capabilities and you still can't thread after watching this then give up. I would recommend this to anyone that hasn't tried threading because they were scared theyed mess it up.
Video was pretty good. Covered lots of useful info. Seemed to just cut off at the end. Felt like something was missing.
