Vol 2. Excellent! Lots of closeups of the tools cutting.
I have only seen No. 2 so far, but this was probably the best camerawork of any woodturning DVD I've seen. Jummy also explains what he is doing very well and demonstrates some great talent. He talks a lot about form and design as well. Also liked the "extra" pieces, especially cutting up a fallen tree for blanks.
The "Turn it On" set of videos, have some unique techniques that I haven't seen on any other videos, especially the use of the quarter inch bowl gouge. The video is expertly done and the camerawork is exceptional. I recommend the set without reservation.
The information wasn't much more than what was on the first dvd, just a different pen.
Vol. 2 & 3 were great, haven't rented Vol. 1 yet. The lighting and camera work was fantastic, also you could hear his voice well. I loved his witty personality and his talking to himself was funny in a good way. I recommend his videos and I will rent Vol. 1 . Tim Harris
I found the projects in this DVD to be very advanced for my skill level. However, this DVD is very informative. The detail in the close up shots is great, in fact they are the best I have seen up to this point. Even though the projects are to advanced for my current skill level I did find the tool techniques very helpful.
The information presented in this DVD is very good. Great close ups showing lots of tool techniques. J. Hicks
This DVD offers the same quality of information as contained in vol's 1 & 2. I especially liked the extra piece where Jimmy talks about his life as a professional wood turner.
I've probably watched close to 40 different DVDs on woodturning and these 3 are without a doubt the best I've seen as far as camera work and general production values. The turning instruction is also about the best I've seen. I recommend all three of them most heartily. Jimmy Clewes is an excellent instructor!!! I'll be renting his other DVDs soon and then I'll probably buy them as well. Most enjoyable. Even my wife, who doesn't turn, enjoyed them.
Excellent DVD series! The video is well shot, showing great close ups of Jimmy's tool technique and artistic eye.
Rented the 1-3 lot of video's, it is an excellent production with top notch camera work , he is a talented master of the lathe. I thoroughly enjoyed the videos I would rate them a 94 out of 100
